LUNAN BAY FARM ASPARAGUS SEASON 4-5 WEEKS
Pickers – Graders – Delivery Driver
We are looking for reliable staff to help with our busy asparagus season, which starts mid-May. The roles available are asparagus pickers, graders and a delivery driver.
Pickers: We are looking for a team of 5 pickers. This role is a field-based job involving cutting and collecting asparagus; and working well as a team. Asparagus is cut by hand, so you need to have a good level of fitness, as picking involves lots of walking, lifting, and bending over. Your pay depends on the weight of graded asparagus that your team picks (piece rate payment terms) and is in accordance with the National minimum wage legislation. Good pickers can earn £550/week, depending on the density of the crop and the weather. Work duration: 10 May – 13 June.
Graders (Part-time): This role is based in our packhouse and involves loading our asparagus into our semi-automated graders, manual grading, weighing, banding, packaging and quality control. This role requires high attention to detail, a good level of fitness and also being able to work efficiently as part of a team. Full training will be given. Hours are depending on daily harvest but start around midday until 5pm, 6 days per week. Due to the nature of the harvest, flexibility regarding hours is needed. Dependant on age between £8.50-£9 per hour basic, £9.50-£10 overtime. Work duration: 17 May – 13 June.
For the picking and grading roles, candidates with farm experience, in particular in harvesting and grading asparagus or soft fruit will be preferred.
Delivery driver: For deliveries of our asparagus to our customers in Scotland, mainly in the East Coast area. Starting at 5am, normally 8hrs per day, 5 days per week over 7 days.
