What is Goats in Coats?
Goats in Coats is our annual spring festival celebrating kidding season at Lunan Bay Farm.
Visitors can meet our newborn goat kids in their colourful hand-knitted coats, explore our goat nurseries, enjoy goat encounters and learn more about our animals, farming and the story of Scottish Cashmere.
Where is Goats in Coats held?
Goats in Coats is held at Myreside Farm, Inverkeilor — not at our Lunan Bay visitor site beside Red Castle.
Please follow the location and directions provided with your ticket.
When is the next Goats in Coats festival?
Goats in Coats takes place during our spring kidding season.
Future festival dates and tickets will be announced through our website, mailing list and social media channels.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. We strongly recommend booking in advance. Sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know when tickets are released.
Goats in Coats is one of our most popular events and sessions can sell out, so purchasing tickets before travelling is essential.
How long does the experience last?
Your Goats in Coats experience lasts approximately one hour and follows a visitor route around the farm.
Our team and volunteers will be positioned around the route to introduce you to the goats and answer questions.
Do infants and young children need tickets?
Children aged two years and over require a ticket.
Infants under two are free and do not require a ticket.
Is Goats in Coats just for children?
Not at all!
Although it is a fantastic family experience, Goats in Coats is enjoyed by visitors of all ages. Adult goat lovers, knitters, textile enthusiasts, photographers and visitors without children are equally welcome.
Will we get to meet the baby goats?
Yes. Meeting our kids is at the heart of the Goats in Coats experience.
However, we are a working farm and the health and welfare of our goats always comes first. Individual animal encounters may therefore vary depending on the needs of the animals on the day.
What should I wear?
Please dress for a working Scottish farm rather than an indoor visitor attraction.
Warm layers, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are strongly recommended, particularly during wet or cold weather.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Goats in Coats will normally continue in typical Scottish weather and we have covered areas around the farm.
Please check the forecast before travelling and dress appropriately.
On the very rare occasion that severe weather means we need to cancel for safety or animal-welfare reasons, ticket holders will be contacted and a full refund will be issued.
Can I bring a pushchair?
Yes. Pushchairs are welcome and the main visitor route is suitable for them.
As this is a working farm, some outdoor surfaces may be uneven or affected by wet weather.
Is Goats in Coats wheelchair accessible?
We aim to make Goats in Coats as accessible as possible.
Disabled parking and accessible toilet facilities are available and our main visitor areas are on accessible or relatively level ground. As some parts of the experience take place outdoors on a working farm, conditions can vary with the weather.

Is there a quieter time to visit?
Visitors who would benefit from a quieter experience may find it helpful to arrive a few minutes after the beginning of their booked arrival slot, once the initial entrance queue has dispersed.
Please contact us before your visit if you have particular sensory or accessibility requirements and we will do our best to advise you.

Can I bring my dog?
Only service and guide dogs are permitted within the farm visitor areas and must be kept on a lead.
Other dogs are permitted in the car park area but cannot enter the farm or animal areas.
Can I take photographs?
Yes. Personal photographs and videos are very welcome.
We love seeing your Goats in Coats photographs, so please tag @lunanbayfarm when sharing them on social media.
Professional photography, filming or commercial content creation should be arranged with us in advance.
Can I change or cancel my tickets?
Please refer to the ticket terms supplied when you book for details of cancellations, transfers and changes.
If you have an issue with an existing booking, please contact us as early as possible.
